A Fun-Filled Week

We did a lot this past week, so here it goes...

On Tuesday, one of the English teachers at Niclas' school asked us to come and speak to her class. So we went in and talked to the 8th grade students about American culture, Halloween, Thanksgiving, popular TV shows, etc. They were shy at first, but really opened up after a few minutes. It's amazing how much emphasis on different languages there is. Most of the kids are able to converse in three languages (Swedish, English, and another one of their choice). We'll be going back next week to help teach them about American History. Kya also had a great time with the kids in the music room. She was working the drums like a pro.

On Wednesday, we had a chance to go see the men's club team. It was a great match-up and the score stayed pretty close for the whole game. There were some missed opportunities towards the end of the game and the game ended in a tie. The highlight of the night was little Kya. At half-time, they had some music playing and Kya got her dance on ("T" now believes she will be a video dancer when she grows up). I (Jennie) have to take some blame also because I make her watch MTV music videos with me. We got it documented so check it out. Sorry for the bad camera work...I was laughing too hard.

On Friday, we had our big game against Kungälvs HK. There was a big crowd and a lot of energy in the air. The game stayed really close in the first half. Towards the middle of the second half, we got down 4 points. However, we were able to come back and tie it. When we called our last time-out, there were about 20 seconds left and the other team was up by 1 point. We ran one last possession, but were unable to score so we lost: 18-19.
Personally, we think that our team could have definitely beat them. It's not like they were that much better than us, but they were able to get some shots and we missed some. Overall, it was a great match and had everyone on the edge of their seats until the end.

On Saturday, we decided to take a trip to Gothenburg. Since the train schedule didn't work out for us, we opted for the bus. After a 70 minute ride, we arrived in the big city. We browsed a little in the shopping center, but went outside to check out some tourist sites. Right when we got outside to walk around, the skies opened up on us. Go figure.
Our first stop was a little square with hand-craft shops. It wasn't exactly what we were expecting so we moved on.
Hungry and bummed from the rain, we wanted to hurry and get to a museum. When we got to our point on the map, we were confused because we smelled fish and saw a random building. So I checked out the inside and realized that we had come to the city's fish market, which is a popular site, but NOT what we were looking for. Here, we asked for directions, and finally went on our way to the big Art Museum.
Inside, we walked around and stopped at every statue and painting for Kya because she wanted to know what they were and what their names were. Since some of the works were labeled in Swedish, we didn't know the descriptions so we resorted to making up names. Some of people in the paintings were: Kenny Rogers, George and Martha, Betsy, Ruthie, and Meanface. We also got hazed by a security guard for taking pictures (we swear the signs weren't there...). But here are some that we snuck away with:

Today, we are just going to relax and watch some more handball. The World Cup in Denmark was going on this past week and the 3rd Place and Final matches are playing today. The Eurosport channel has been great for us. It's too bad we don't have something to record the games on.
That's all we've got for now.

Good luck to USA this weekend in their NETHC games!

OH my gosh, I laughed SO hard at Kya dancing. I was laughing in my cubical until one of my co-workers came by and was like "what's going on" and I had to show them. My favorite part, besides Kya dancing, was T's commentary. I love it!

Thanks for the comments guys. Seriously...I laugh so hard everytime I watch it. We have more videos because we kept taping her so maybe we'll post it later on.
Jen, that's so great about you at work. The other one I have has better commentary from T I think.
hahaha I'm laughing just thinking about it.
